    Dan Townsend, nationally recognized artist of Creek and Cherokee heritage, carves exquisite early Southeastern designs into shell, bone, glass, and jade. The primitive motif he uses date from 500-1500 A.D. A lifelong student of Native American art and culture, Dan's work is found in museums, archaeological sites, tribal towns, and also in many private collections. Townsend was among a select number of artists invited to display their work at the opening of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian. His work is also included in the exhibition beginning 2021 Spiro and the Art of the Mississippian World
