Dan Townsend Shell Gorget- Key Marco Dolphin (4089)

Dan Townsend, nationally recognized artist of Creek and Cherokee heritage, carves exquisite early Southeastern designs into shell, bone, glass, and jade. The primitive motif he uses date from 500-1500 A.D. A lifelong student of Native American art and culture, Dan's work is found in museums, archaeological sites, tribal towns, and also in many private collections. Townsend was among a select number of artists invited to display their work at the opening of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian.

This one of a kind shell carving gorget measures approximately 1 3/4" in diameter.
