    Dan Townsend, nationally recognized artist of Creek and Cherokee heritage, carves exquisite early Southeastern designs into shell, bone, glass, and jade. The primitive motif he uses date from 500-1500 A.D. A lifelong student of Native American art and culture, Dan's work is found in museums, archaeological sites, tribal towns, and also in many private collections. Townsend was among a select number of artists invited to display their work at the opening of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian.
